Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all have a very happy, family filled, fun day. Today, I volunteered with my work at the Food Bank in Cincinnati. It was such a rewarding few hours and put everything into perceptive. I have so much to be thankful for this year, and every year. Thanksgiving is by my far favorite holiday and I think thats because it is all about the food and reflecting on the past year. My family has a lot of traditions for thanksgiving and that is something that I have always held on to since I was younger since we moved around a lot. It was something steady to hold on to. I wanted to share some of our fun traditions and let you inside of my holiday a little!
The first tradition my family has done is the turkey trot which is either a 5k or 10k in the morning, and each morning my sister ask what we are running for (which food item). I always pick mashed potatoes and she picks stuffing. We have to get up really early and go running which has never been favorite but its really fun. We have continued this from the different states we have moved to so its fun to see the different routes. We did have to pump the brakes on this tradition though due to travel schedules but its always been really fun!!
After Thanksgiving dinner, we usually have a large crowd we play dictionary. Its extraordinary in my house, with all the extroverts we have. People are always yelling crazy things, saying the got it first and laughing at the drawings. Its actually how my brother-in-law proposed to my sister. It was really precious and very them. Making the tradition even more special.
Lastly, another fun tradition is Friday we go bowling (we are terrible) with my brother-in-laws family (who has their own bowling stuff). We loose every year, but theres always a lot of beer flowing and laughs happening. Each year my family tries to score at least 100. It's just an all around good time, and its nice to see my family who flies in from all over the country.
We have never been into Black Friday due to waking up early on Thursday and bowling Friday, making me a Cyber Monday girl. More to come on that!
Ah Thanksgiving! There is more food than you could image, I have taken on the duty of making gravy (which is actually quite difficult sometimes) and my sister has gone gluten-free so this year Im making it with corn starch instead of flour, wish me luck.
Let me know in the comments below your traditions and what holiday is your favorite! Have a great day everyone and stay safe!
