At Home Spa Day

Some days you just need to relax, and Im not just talking about a face mask here and there. I love the days that I have just about an hour to pamper myself so I wanted to share my routine and some of my favorite products. In the bottom of this post I have two playlist I listen to.  And this is the candle I can't stop burning!

REMEMBER WHEN SHOPPING: Use Ebates for cash back and coupons! Honey is a great back up when Ebates doesn't work on the site.

First I like to dry brush, I've heard that this is really good for circulation and it just gets the top layer of skin off.  The brush I like to use is this one:

Before I get in the tub I usually deep clean my face with my face wash and this padI put aside a large bowl of water thats pretty hot just let my face take in the steam. I like to put some tea tree oil in the water to calm my skin. The face mask Im loving but I also am liking this recently this small packet from sephora. That mask is fun because its small and easy to travel with.

Then I like to soak in the tub with some Epsom salt and essential oils (my favorite), with my face mask on. This is a scrub I use at the end of my bath.  Follow up by this moisturizer, this is a heavy duty one.  For a lighter one I like this spray.

If Im feeling really crazy I like to do this hair mask.

After Ive dried off and Im wrapped in my fuzzy robe, seriously its so fuzzy, I like to pull out some magazines or turn on netflix and do my nails.

For my nails, I usually get warm water and soak my nails so I can get the cuticles off. Then I use this tool to to shine and buff them.  I get a lot of ridges on my finger nails and this helps to smooth them out.  These are the colors Ive been lLOVING recently especially with fall coming up.

Here are some of the products I mentioned, and below are playlist I like to listen to.

Here are some of the playlist I listen to while Im doing this! One really makes you feel like your at a spa the other helps me to relax and sing along!

Tips on Making a Vision Board

So I know that vision boards can be a little silly, but I love my quotes and I do like being able to see my goals as reminders every day.  So I made a vision board and did my research on somethings to incorporate into yours if you're looking to make one!  There is also a exercise to get your juices flowing below!

First off I found this site that makes printables for you vision board and Im obsessed! You can find it here.

There are plenty of things you can use to make a vision board; a bulletin board, and empty wall with some tape and string if you want or what I did was use an old glass frame so I could draw all over it with dry eraser markers!  I liked doing it this way with the ability to change goals or fill things in.  Goals can change and so can I.

Some tips for your vision board:

  • A photos you enjoy
  • Balance the board with things about health, professional, relationships, creative and self help
  • Add images from an unrelated field, or color pallets.  Things that make you happy
  • Incorporate quotes
  • Have monthly and quarterly check points for these goals (change the goal if needed)
  • Add things that are tough but in reach.  Don't put things on there that are unrealistic and will just frustrate you
  • Write downs ways you will achieve this goal.  The more detail the better
  • Lastly, make it fun and happy.  We should celebrate reaching our goals!

Here is the printable and my answers!

Social Media Detox

Have you ever took a second to think about how much time we spend on our phones and just scrolling our thumb through Instagram.  I know that the first thing I do in the morning is go through Instagram and Facebook seeing if I "missed" anything.  Did you know that if you spend 2 hours a day on social media that's a month out of the year, yikes! So I stumbled upon this Digital Detox from Yes Supple Co.  I wanted to share some of the steps and take-aways I had.

So the "detox" is suppose to last 5 days but it's something that I want to implement hopefully every day.

Day 1 - Clean up the space

  • Delete and unsubscribe from emails.  *Pro Tip there is a site called UnrollMe and it is a site that will show you all of the things you are subscribed to and let you unsubscribe with one click.  It is such a simple way to unsubscribe, clean up your email.  There were often times I was subscribed twice to something.  Another thing I have done is unsubscribe from all store and resubscribe if I feel I'm REALLY missing something (aka deals)
  • Unfollow any account that doesn't inspire you.  I have really enjoyed this so I'm not scrolling so much and enjoying more what I'm seeing on social media.

Day 2 - No consumption until noon

  • The whole point is to start your morning how you want and make time for other things.  It really does start your day off differently.  I have started to implement not going on social media for the first 2 hours of my day.  This way I can wake up in a better mood and not be bombarded as soon as my eyes open.

Day 3 - Leave one social media behind

  • This one is a tough one, and you're suppose to pick one you use a lot. Remember this is just for the day not forever, but it seriously frees up so much time of your day.  It also makes you realize how much you grab for your phone too.

Day 4 - Only ever have 1 tab open

  • I liked this task a lot at the end of the day.  Sometimes its impossible to just have one if you need multiple for work or something.  But it really makes you focus on one task and then be done with it.  I found myself getting things done faster and moving from task to task quicker as well. I wasn't so distracted.

Day 5 - A media free day

This was touch and really hard to do in the winter with the cold.  So I did more of a half day and you have to prepare for a day like this.  I got ahead on chores, doing laundry, going grocery shopping and cooking from a cookbook not Pinterest.  I also bought a book ahead of time.  Its was nice, I'd love to take a half day every weekend just to get outdoors and force myself to do something else besides binge watching TV.

So tell me are you willing to try out the digital detox? What are you thoughts?!

Try to live life a little less through your phone this week

October Intentions

Hey Guys, I hope you are having a fabulous October so far! I wish it was a little cooler in Ohio but I will take the good weather.  This post is coming to you with some of my October intentions!  I recently had an epiphany the other day about my attitude towards things, so Im excited for this month and switching things up.

While I was shopping at the mall last week I felt extremely overwhelmed and was throwing a pity party for myself for many reasons.  And I felt like the only thing that could make me feel better was having a new day, but it was 2:30 in the afternoon and I had so much day left.  So I stopped myself and I bullied the part of my brain that was bringing me down, I bought myself a Starbucks and I threw all my energy into having a good day. And guess what? I did!

So my intentions for this month are:

1.  Throw all my extra energy into having good thoughts! I know this isn't possible but I really am realizing the more good energy I put out the more it comes back to me.  Instead of constantly thinking about what I felt like I was lacking.  "What you focus on you get more of" - One of my friends told me once

2. Complete a mini work out 5 out of 7 days.  Even if its only 10 minutes I'm really just working on habit and some strenght training this month!

Those are all my intentions, Im keeping it simple this month.  Going with less is more.  What are your intentions!! I'd love to hear!

Real Talk: Pressure

Hi Friends, I hope that you are having a lovely week! Recently I have been trying to be very mindful of my thoughts and my surroundings.  And I feel like I have had some revelations that I would love to share.

As I am being mindful about how I live my life trying to improve it, I have found that I have become hyper-critical. Now I feel like I'm critical anyways, due to society, being in the blogging world and trying to be a #bosslady.  Constantly striving for more. I find that I'm punishing myself even more now that I am trying to correct bad behaviors.

There are constantly articles out about how you need to change your actions to improve your life.  And you know what it's not really working for me. What I mean by that is yes of course I want to improve my mind, body, soul but I'm going about it all the wrong way.  First we should all just give ourselves a little credit for trying in the first place, that is hard, seriously. Second, I think we need to reward ourselves for all of the small stuff, and forgive ourselves for any slip ups. I'm talking about if you're trying to eat better, work out, have more positive thoughts.  These are big changes and I think we all expect them to happen overnight.

I was doing a work out video last night and the trainer was talking about how "We shouldn't listen to ourselves, we should talk to ourselves". For instance we shouldn't listen when our brain says we can't do this work out, rather tell yourself you can do this work out!  I feel like I need to use this in a lot of aspects of my life.  The negative thoughts creep in so easily.

I think we just need to take some of a pressure off, and go a little easier on ourselves.  We are all trying the best we can every day.  I believe that change will happen it just will be slower than most would like.  So by writing this post I hope to take a load off my shoulder, telling you and myself that putting more pressure on ourselves doesn't yield faster or better results. And even if it does we won't enjoy the process of getting to the finish line.

I hope you're having a great day and this helped to make you feel not so alone! Do you have any tips for taking the pressure off?
