At Home Spa Day

Some days you just need to relax, and Im not just talking about a face mask here and there. I love the days that I have just about an hour to pamper myself so I wanted to share my routine and some of my favorite products. In the bottom of this post I have two playlist I listen to.  And this is the candle I can't stop burning!

REMEMBER WHEN SHOPPING: Use Ebates for cash back and coupons! Honey is a great back up when Ebates doesn't work on the site.

self care spa day at home

First I like to dry brush, I've heard that this is really good for circulation and it just gets the top layer of skin off.  The brush I like to use is this one:

Before I get in the tub I usually deep clean my face with my face wash and this padI put aside a large bowl of water thats pretty hot just let my face take in the steam. I like to put some tea tree oil in the water to calm my skin. The face mask Im loving but I also am liking this recently this small packet from sephora. That mask is fun because its small and easy to travel with.

Then I like to soak in the tub with some Epsom salt and essential oils (my favorite), with my face mask on. This is a scrub I use at the end of my bath.  Follow up by this moisturizer, this is a heavy duty one.  For a lighter one I like this spray.

If Im feeling really crazy I like to do this hair mask.

After Ive dried off and Im wrapped in my fuzzy robe, seriously its so fuzzy, I like to pull out some magazines or turn on netflix and do my nails.

For my nails, I usually get warm water and soak my nails so I can get the cuticles off. Then I use this tool to to shine and buff them.  I get a lot of ridges on my finger nails and this helps to smooth them out.  These are the colors Ive been lLOVING recently especially with fall coming up.

Here are some of the products I mentioned, and below are playlist I like to listen to.

Here are some of the playlist I listen to while Im doing this! One really makes you feel like your at a spa the other helps me to relax and sing along!

May Intentions

Way back in the day I use to do monthly intentions.  Sometimes I felt like no one cared to hear them but then I would comments or other people would share their intentions/goals with me.  Last week I had one of the craziest weeks of my life, heres a list: Got in a car accident (everything is okay!), heard some bad news at work, got engaged, was surprised by family members and friends, got a promotion at work. It has been a WHIRLWIND to say the least.  So I thought now was a great time to sit reflect and see what I wanted to work on this month.

1. Practice gratitude - There is SO much I have to be thankful for right now and I just wanted the universe to know how happy I am.  I think practicing being thankful even on the bad days is important.  I just wanted to stay grounded through all the craziness.

2. Continue pushing myself in work outs - Recently I found out a coworker (who is 23) had a stroke due to "mixed wiring" in her brain.  We are hopeful she is expected to make a full recovery despite losing her speech and all feeling in the right side of her body. At first I felt like I needed to be in good health now for down the line and now I feel like I need to be in GREAT health for the NOW.

3. Stay organized - There is so much going on in my world right now.  Just in family news my sister is expecting May 28 my other sister gets married September 2nd and now Im planning my wedding.  Writing everything down will help me to stay on top of things, feel less overwhelmed and not keep everything bouncing around in my mind.

I think 3 are enough, I like to keep it simple and obtainable.  So tell me what are your intentions or goals for the month of May?

Self Care Sunday

Have you ever heard of Self Care Sunday before?  I hadn't either until recently, its similar to Meatless Monday or Taco Tuesday (jk on this one).  But I recently heard about this and I really like the idea.  It's nice to on Sunday night unwind a little bit and know that going into Monday you are recharged and refreshed.

I have come up with a list of things you may want on your Sunday Night! Ps. turning my phone on Do Not Disturb is really helpful to me

  • Color/Draw/Paint
  • Exercise, especially loving yoga
  • Volunteer
  • Play a game
  • Paint your nails
  • Read a book
  • Call a friend
  • Go for a walk
  • Hang out with your animals
  • Plan your week out (set some goals, figure out your schedule, get your lists together)
  • Take a bath
  • Clean out your social media with people that no longer make you happy or inspired
  • Clean up - Declutter
  • Meditate
  • Catch up on your favorite show
  • Make your favorite drink; tea, coffee, wine ;)

Whatever calms you, eases your mind and gets you ready for the week, you should do more of that! So tell me what are some of your favorite things to do on a Sunday! Do you have a routine or ritutal?

Here are some of my favorite things for Self Care Sunday:

October Intentions

Hey Guys, I hope you are having a fabulous October so far! I wish it was a little cooler in Ohio but I will take the good weather.  This post is coming to you with some of my October intentions!  I recently had an epiphany the other day about my attitude towards things, so Im excited for this month and switching things up.

While I was shopping at the mall last week I felt extremely overwhelmed and was throwing a pity party for myself for many reasons.  And I felt like the only thing that could make me feel better was having a new day, but it was 2:30 in the afternoon and I had so much day left.  So I stopped myself and I bullied the part of my brain that was bringing me down, I bought myself a Starbucks and I threw all my energy into having a good day. And guess what? I did!

So my intentions for this month are:

1.  Throw all my extra energy into having good thoughts! I know this isn't possible but I really am realizing the more good energy I put out the more it comes back to me.  Instead of constantly thinking about what I felt like I was lacking.  "What you focus on you get more of" - One of my friends told me once

2. Complete a mini work out 5 out of 7 days.  Even if its only 10 minutes I'm really just working on habit and some strenght training this month!

Those are all my intentions, Im keeping it simple this month.  Going with less is more.  What are your intentions!! I'd love to hear!

Real Talk: Pressure

Hi Friends, I hope that you are having a lovely week! Recently I have been trying to be very mindful of my thoughts and my surroundings.  And I feel like I have had some revelations that I would love to share.

As I am being mindful about how I live my life trying to improve it, I have found that I have become hyper-critical. Now I feel like I'm critical anyways, due to society, being in the blogging world and trying to be a #bosslady.  Constantly striving for more. I find that I'm punishing myself even more now that I am trying to correct bad behaviors.

There are constantly articles out about how you need to change your actions to improve your life.  And you know what it's not really working for me. What I mean by that is yes of course I want to improve my mind, body, soul but I'm going about it all the wrong way.  First we should all just give ourselves a little credit for trying in the first place, that is hard, seriously. Second, I think we need to reward ourselves for all of the small stuff, and forgive ourselves for any slip ups. I'm talking about if you're trying to eat better, work out, have more positive thoughts.  These are big changes and I think we all expect them to happen overnight.

I was doing a work out video last night and the trainer was talking about how "We shouldn't listen to ourselves, we should talk to ourselves". For instance we shouldn't listen when our brain says we can't do this work out, rather tell yourself you can do this work out!  I feel like I need to use this in a lot of aspects of my life.  The negative thoughts creep in so easily.

I think we just need to take some of a pressure off, and go a little easier on ourselves.  We are all trying the best we can every day.  I believe that change will happen it just will be slower than most would like.  So by writing this post I hope to take a load off my shoulder, telling you and myself that putting more pressure on ourselves doesn't yield faster or better results. And even if it does we won't enjoy the process of getting to the finish line.

I hope you're having a great day and this helped to make you feel not so alone! Do you have any tips for taking the pressure off?
