January Fitness Haul

Hopefully you all are sticking to your new years resolutions so far! The end of 2017 was crazy for us with all the traveling so I knew that as soon as January came around I would want to hit the ground running with my fitness regimen.  Of course I want to get in shape for the wedding but I also just want to feel good in my skin and healthy. So I used Digit, and set a goal of saving $500 by the end of the year to buy all my fitness needs!

REMEMBER WHEN SHOPPING: Use Ebates for cash back and coupons! Honey is a great back up when Ebates doesn't work on the site.

So today I'm sharing with you what worked and what didn't so you could check it out! PS I bought some of Tone It Up's new line so you can see the review here!

Yoga Mat *Returned* - this mat was 3mm and even though it was cute that is way too thin for what I was looking for.  But it's good to know because now I know that Im looking for either a 5mm or 6mm mat.  This is the back up that I purchased!

Sports Bra  - These are my favorite bras from Target, I love the style of them, they fit really well and keep everything in place.  Im not a big fan of padding in my sports bra (I dont need it) so these are perfect!

Lulu- Lemon Pants - This was one of my big splurges.  I loved the color and I knew these pants would be worth it because tehy would hold up for a long time. Although I thought the 7/8 would fit me nicely with being petite and they are far too long. To be honest the tag ripped off when I was trying them on so Im just going to keep them!

Nikes *Returned* - I just didnt really like the color when it came in, thats all haha.

Still deciding on these Nikes - http://shopstyle.it/l/t67Y

Tone it Up Review

Guys I tried out some of the products from the Tone it Up line, and Im sad to report, I didn't like the products.  Their line is very inexpensive but it shows and I was suppose bummed out about it.

Jump Rope *Returned* - This jump was the worst, it broke several times while I was trying to use it.  And I kept screwing the piece back on but I knew it would never fully stay so I returned it.

Dumbbells- I kept the dumbbells but you can see the seam and it seems like they may easily split.  But I liked the color and the texture of it so I thought it would be worth it.

2nd Jump Rope - This is the back up I purchased, not as pretty but it works and I guess thats all that really matters

Shoe wise I got these asics because I get shin splits very easily and I know this brand is great for support.  but I have been so hesitant because I hated the colors usually.  So when I saw these colors I grabbed them as quick as I could! They are so comfy! Originally I was thinking about getting a running shoe and another shoe for more cross training and doing weights so I am still deciding on these Nikes.  What so you think!?

TOPS

I was thinking about going to althetica or Lulu Lemon for some shirts but they just seemed so overpriced and I like some of my items from Old Navy so I just looked there I loved what I saw.  I love the Long sleeves, especially with the open back for some breathing.  These Plain Tanks are super cute and I love the material they are made from.  Also they have the cutest Graphic Tank, for a reasonable price.

More Returns

I tried out these long sleeves from Target, but they had too much of a boat neck and showed my bra straps and not in a flattering way I thought so I returned them.  I also tried tried out these sports bras but they are more like cloth material and don't give enough support I think.

PS HAS ANYONE TRIED THE HIDRATE SPARK BOTTLE? Im VERY interested in this bottle and if it actually helps you drink more water or if it is annoying and not worth the money.  Just need a review some one help a girl out ha!

You'll never believe it but I haven't hit my $500 limit yet.  So is there something you'd recommend? I'd love to know!!

Summer Must Haves

This week Henry and I booked our tickets for California to visit his family and it got me thinking about my packing list.  So I have rounded up my summer must haves for this summer.  Whether it's going to the beach, hanging out or a dress for wedding season! Here are some of my favorites!

Some trends I have been loving is cold shoulders, even though it feels like you can't buy anything that ISNT cold shoulder, and the fact that one pieces are cool again.  Of course you need some good beach accessories, high waisted shorts and cute tank tops!

Be sure to use Ebates, to get some money back on your online purchases!! You'll get $10 automatically!

So tell me! Do you have any fun vacation plans or must haves in your woredrobe for summer?!?

Review: ThredUp

Hey guys! So I have recently used the site ThredUp and I wanted to let you know about my experience.  I have a $10 off coupon here if you'd like to use! If you haven't used it before it is like Plato's Closet, where you can sell your gentle used clothes and get money from them. Here are some of the differences between selling at  Plato's Closet vs ThredUp:

Plato's Closet -

  • A physical store you go to
  • Takes Men's and Women's Clothes
  • Gives you back your clothes they don't buy
  • Takes about 20-2 hrs depending on how busy you are

ThredUp -

  • An Online Store
  • Takes Women's and Children's clothes
  • Donates the clothes it doesn't buy
  • Takes a few weeks

One of the reason's I wanted to use ThredUp is the convenience, they send you a bag in the mail for you to fill (its about the size of a large laundry bag) and pay for the shipping.

I requested my bag and received it about a week later, I filled it up with clothes, received an email a week after saying my bag was received.  The email also said that it would take about 2 1/2 weeks to process my order.  I was then told my bag was worth $22 upfront.  I was able to cash that out 14 days after (Im a little confused still as to why it took 14 days) to a paypal account. There's good and bad to both stores.  At Plato's closet since they give a lot of clothes back I was able to go to other stores and try to sell them again (which they would buy) and make some more money.  This is of course super time consuming with driving all over the place.  But I also like the ThredUp is convenient and donates the clothes they don't take. I tried to sell about 20 items and they took 12 which is better than my luck at Plato's closet.  I think I will for sure use them again the next time I do a large purge on my closet, (see my system of how I purge) but its unfortunate that I can't combine H's clothes and sell them as well.

As for ThredUp clothing selection is awesome though if you want to buy from which I highly recommend!

How To: Purge Your Closet

It's becoming that time, Spring Cleaning Time. This past weekend in Cincinnati was beautiful, I was able to go for a hike and open all the windows to get some fresh air into the apartment.  It inspired me to start spring cleaning. To me spring cleaning isn't just deep cleaning it's also getting rid of a lot of items.  Thankfully I grew up in a house where every season we cleaned things out and either threw it out or donated it.  Even with that mentally of cleaning things regularly it's amazing how much I still have, but anyways Im here to help!

The first tip I have to cleaning out your closet is to organize it. Now Im a crazy and have things organized by style type for example, short sleeve, tank tops, long sleeve and drawers of work out clothes. Its also color coordinated, now this isn't for everyone but by just tiding up your closet it helps you to really look at everything and see what you have.

Step two, throw out anything that is damaged, you'd be amazed if you really looked at your shirts how many have little holes or stained.  For me this was a lot of my lounge wear and work out clothes.  Even though those may be a little bit more exceptable to be damaged I never reached for them.  Also you may find a few shirts here and there you forgot had holes.  You'll probably never repair them and they will just get worse. Throw those out.

Now, on to season.  I think it's easiest to go by the season that you're either currently in or just getting through.  You have the most familiarity with these clothes and can make better judgement on what to get rid of.  The cardinal rule here is if you didn't wear it within the season throw it out or sell it. This is a super strict rule and I get it, I have a REALLY hard time following it.  But I also know that purging regularly I have a ton of items where I'm like "Oh I didn't wear it this season but it's cute and I sure will next season" and oh surprise I never wore it. There are of course some exceptions to this rule like interview outfits or more dressy items.  But also take a second look, sometimes you find yourself wanting something different.  By getting rid of the items you're just meh about it allows room to get items you love and will wear more regularly.

After you have completed the most recent season, I find it easier to go onto the next season coming up but you can go through whatever one you'd like.  And just ask yourself did I wear this at all. I have heard the rule of if you haven't worn it in the past 6 months get rid of it. Its harder to go through seasons like summer when you're in winter because you may be like "Oh there's for sure a chance I'd wear this".  This is why I try to go through my clothes once a season.

I also am a culprit of having a lot of t-shirts, whether from college, my sorority of even high school. I still need to get ride of a lot of these items. But one question I ask myself is would I want to be seen in this next year? If the answer is no I pitch it.  There comes a certain age where its just not that cool to wear your bar shirt out and about from junior year.  If this is an around the house shirt by all means keep it! But just remember you don't need as much lounge wear as you think.

The last step I do is ... go through it all again.  I know this sounds a little ridiculous but often times there are a lot of items I am on the fence about I don't grab the first go around.  When I look at it again Im like okay I really wont wear this.

I often try to sell my clothes at Plato's Closet or College Mentor and I often go to two stores of each since they take different items.  I am trying ThredUp where you can send you items through the mail, they will give you money and then donate the rest.

I hope this helps you during your spring cleaning! Let me know in the comments below if you would like tips for purging your office!
