BUT I met up with my best friend Emily and we have a really exciting post for today. Emily is an inspiring makeup artist out of Dayton, OH and we tried out a few looks. Emily has this awesome blog where she uses her paintings to inspire looks. You can check her out here, and her Instagram here!
For today though we gathered up our favorite makeup items that our high end and low end! Emily has a more olive skin tone with dry skin and blue eyes. I am much more fair, oily skin and green eyes. So I thought this would be fun and something for everyone!

Top 5 Affordable Makeup
1- LA Girl Pro Foundation: This foundation is awesome for dry skin. It has a thinner formula and a semi dewy finish. At first I was skeptical of the hype that it was getting, but it’s no joke! If you want a great foundation that will last and not dry out your skin, definitely give this a try!
2 - Maybelline “The Rocket Lash” Mascara: I’ve loved this mascara for years. I’ve read mixed reviews on this guy, but for my lashes, it separates and lengthens them perfectly. My eyelashes are horrible with holding a curl and this mascara will keep them curled and black all day. I’m obsessed with this.
3 - ELF Poreless Face Primer: This is newer to my collection, but I LOVE this primer. I’ve heard good things about ELF’s newer products and I wanted to give it a try. I also used this on a few models for a fashion show and it made their makeup go on so smoothly. It smells AMAZING and it doesn’t ball up on the skin while you’re applying it. Definitely would recommend this for a great pore filling primer.
4 - Morphe 35R Pallette : If you have blue eyes, this pallette is a must. It also compliments every other eye color as well. I’ve used this pallet on a few different models and each time I was blown away by the pigmentation and the quality of these eye shadows. Morphe is definitely stepping up their game with quality. This pallette is definitely a must. **This product is currently sold out but we recommend their palettes
5 - NYX Slide On, Glide On: THIS EYELINER SO CREAMY! I love this eyeliner for the waterline. It’s great for smokey looks and it stays on for so long. They are very pigmented and super inexpensive. If you have watery eyes, definitely give these a try.
1 - NYX Mirco Eyebrow - I have heard that these brow pencils are made in the same factory as Anastisa and very similar just half the price. I love them they don't budge and last a long time!
2 - Colourpop Highlight - I love this highlight because it adds a pop without being obnoxious. I like applying it with a brush so I have more control of how much Im putting on. When you apply with your finger and it can be a bit bright.
3 - NYX Cool Neutrals Eyeshadow Pallet - I have talked about this pallet before but I just love the mixture of mattes and shimmers. It has a great transition shade and all the eyeshadows are pigments. Seriously can't beat the price either for all that you get!
4 - L'oreal True Blend - This foundation isn't amazing for my oily skin but I just love the shade range on this line. There is something for everything and I think it looks really nice on the skin with buildable medium coverage.
5 - Physician’s Formula Bronzer - Although Im not a fan of the smell the light shade is perfect for my
Top 5 High End Makeup
1 - YSL “The Shock” Mascara: So like the Maybelline mascara, this is amazing for lengthening and volumizing, but it also makes my lashes look fluffy, if a mascara can do such a thing, the YSL does. This mascara makes me look like I’m wearing false lashes, without actually putting them on. I love it.
2 - Chanel “Tan de Chanel” cream bronzer: If you can get past the hefty and unnecessary price tag of this cream bronzer [HINT: I actually bought mine off of Poshmark! Just make sure to sanitize anything you buy used] this cream bronzer is amazing. I really didn’t want to like it because of the price, but it looks SO natural on the skin and it blends out so well. You look sunkissed and glowing. It’s amazing.
3 - NARS Creamy Matte Concealer: Oh. My. This concealer is everything. I know the hype is the Tarte Shape Tape, but for me, this is definitely a winner. For my dry skin, this doesn’t crease on me and the Shape Tape will actually dry out my under eyes. I'm obsessed with this NARS concealer. I haven’t touched anything else since I’ve gotten this. It’s a thicker concealer so a little bit goes a long way, but it doesn’t look cakey at all. Definitely give this a try.
4 - ABH Brow Definer: Hands down, best brow pencil I’ve ever used. ABH has the best brow products in my opinion. It’s waxy enough to shape my brows and pigmented enough to deposit the color exactly where I need it. It’s an amazing brow product.
5 - First Aid Beauty - Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer: All of the yesses for this primer if you have dry skin. I’ve used this on a few models that have dry skin as well and they’ve complimented on how their makeup feels so hydrating. I owe it all to this primer! It’s so moisturizing and it smells amazing. If you’re in the market for a better primer, try this out before anything else.
1 - Estee Lauder Double Long Wear: This was my old go to for my oily skin and Im in love again. I have sweated, shed a tear and wore it all day. It doesn't budge. It takes a lot for my oil to come through and puts my mind at ease all day.
2 - Sephora Mattifying Primer: This is a newer product and I really like it. It helps to keep my matte, be care too much and it gets a little patchy. I like that it warms up in your hands and isn't silicone. It also doesn't feel like glue on my face like some mattifying primers.
3 - Sephora Luster Matte Long-Wear Lip: I love these, they are matte and long lasting. They have a beautiful range over colors and don't break the bank. They don't stay on ALL day but they wear off nicely and are my new favorites.
4 - Tarte Blush: I have the color exposed and its beautiful. Theres are buildable which I like because I hate when blush goes on too heavy and it stays on all day. They have a wonderful shade selection too to choose from.
5 - Bite Beauty Lipstick: I have my eyes on these new colors. I like that this brand is natural since you do tend to eat some of your lipstick (weird I know). I think these shades are so pretty! I will say some of the dark colors bleed a little but it is a lipstick so they move more than a liquid lipstick.
So tell us, what are you favorites! Have you tried any of these!? We'd love to hear from you.
